Union Market District
Union Market District is a vibrant 45-acre neighborhood that combines heritage with innovation. Historically, the area was known as a wholesale district and is evolving into a dynamic mix of residential buildings, independent shops, maker spaces, and destination dining experiences. Gorove Slade has worked with EDENS, JBG Smith, Gallaudet University, LCOR, Kettler, and other developers on the many projects that are bringing this lively area to fruition.
Met Park / Amazon HQ2
The Amazon HQ2 project is transforming National Landing through a phased approach that will bring over 5 million square feet of development, including residential and office space, ground floor retail, “The Helix” amenity space, daycare services, and a community center that will house the Arlington Community High School. Essential to the success of this megaproject is rigorous transportation planning.
The REACH, at The Kennedy Center
The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy, a lifelong supporter and advocate for the arts. The Kennedy Center hosts more than two million visitors each year through various arts programming spanning several venues, and it is home to the National Symphony Orchestra and annual events such as the Kennedy Center Honors.
Potomac Shores
Potomac Shores, located in Prince William County, Virginia, boasts 3,800 houses, a local town and recreation center, a golf course, a community garden, and numerous walking trails and parks. Originally conceived in 2011, this mixed-use development has undergone a significant evolution to fit changing workplace patterns and office space needs. The Gorove Slade team has been there every step of the way, providing a wide array of transportation and mobility solutions to support the community's growth.
One Loudoun
One Loudoun combines residential, retail, entertainment, office, and civic uses on a 360-acre property in Ashburn, Loudoun County. Since 2012, Gorove Slade has partnered with Miller and Smith, Retail Properties of America, Inc (RPAI) and Kite Realty Group to perform various traffic engineering and planning services to support the development and the surrounding transportation network.
Howard University
Since 2009, Gorove Slade has collaborated with Howard University on several iterations of their Central Campus Master Plan. This included transportation and parking analyses, presentations to neighborhood groups, and assisting with plan implementation.
The Yards
The Yards has transformed the historic Capital Riverfront neighborhood in Washington, DC, with the redevelopment of 42 acres of federal waterfront property with an overall program that consists of approximately 3,400 residential units, 1.8 million square feet of office space, 400,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, and Yards Park. Steeped in history and culture, this mixed-use development is adjacent to Nationals Park and the USDOT Headquarters. It borders the Washington Navy Yard to the east and the Anacostia River to the south. Gorove Slade has been involved with the development plans for The Yards from an early stage when it was originally envisioned as the Southeast Federal Center.
Rochambeau: The French International School
Rochambeau French International School in Montgomery County educates over 1,000 nursery, elementary, and secondary students across two campuses. With young people traveling from across the region to attend, the school requires careful consideration of traffic flow and safety. Gorove Slade helped develop circulation systems for student pick-up/drop-off and bus traffic, ensuring smooth operations at both campuses.
DC Public Schools and Recreation Centers
Since our founding, Gorove Slade has participated in over 40 various projects with the District Department of General Services working on DC Public Schools (DCPS) and DC Recreational Cetner projects. This includes aiding in the renovation, modernization, and new construction of many elementary, middle, high, technical schools and recreation centers across Washington, DC.
Audi Field
Audi Field is the home for D.C. United, the District of Columbia’s major league soccer (MLS) franchise. Completed in 2018, this Buzzard Point development boasts a modern facility with the capacity for 20,000 cheering fans featuring 31 luxury suites, an on-site bike valet, team offices, and team store. The Washington Spirit, a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team, and DC Defenders, an XFL team, also use Audi Field for their home games, making it a year-round destination and a site of constant movement of people and vehicles.
The Wharf / Southwest Waterfront
The Wharf is a mixed-use project spanning several blocks along the Southwest Waterfront in the District of Columbia. The area includes offices, residential, retail, hotels, live music venues, and a theatre. Today, the Wharf is an exemplary urban waterfront redevelopment and the site of a vibrant dining and entertainment scene.
