Description
Downtown Richmond’s Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront–a new four-acre venue set to open on Tredegar Street for the summer 2025 concert season–is poised to transform the city’s entertainment experience. The Amphitheater will host live performances and be a destination for festivals, community gatherings, and civic events. With a capacity of 7,500, the Amphitheater will offer stunning views of the downtown skyline and James River, with green spaces and architecture that blends with the city’s design.
Gorove Slade, in partnership with Redlight Management, conducted the parking demand study for this high-profile project to right-size the parking supply. The analysis included an inventory of the existing decks and surface lots near the site and a walkshed analysis to determine how many of those spaces are within a 5-minute, 10-minute, and 15-minute walk to the venue.
Our planning and engineering teams developed a matrix of the various modes of transportation available, including passenger vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles, and ride-share. The matrix allowed the design team to vary the mode split and conduct a sensitivity analysis of the parking demand for a sellout event. During the project’s next phase, Gorove Slade developed traffic control plans to transport concertgoers safely and efficiently.
This project is expected to enhance the economic vibrancy of downtown Richmond, generating an annual economic impact of over $30 million through operational and visitor spending. By welcoming diverse audiences with a multi-modal approach to site access and circulation, Gorove Slade is helping to create an event experience that is welcoming to all.
