Julian Abeledo
Transportation Engineer
Julian is a transportation engineer and recent addition to Gorove Slade’s transportation modeling group. Throughout his graduate studies, Julian was an FHWA Dwight D. Eisenhower Transportation Fellow, researching a wide variety of topics, including machine-learning models for predictions of bikeshare demand as well as development of microsimulations for downtown parking systems. Previously, Julian interned at WMATA, where he worked on the PM/CM team for the Bladensburg Bus Garage and Northern Bus Garage reconstruction projects.
As a lifelong Washingtonian, Julian enjoys using the District’s multimodal transportation network to show his friends around town. From pupusas in Mt. Pleasant and awaze tibs in Shaw, to a big bowl of spicy lemongrass pho in Petworth, Julian is a self-styled connoisseur of DC’s immigrant cuisines. He also volunteers his time in DC’s Latino community, educating Spanish-monolingual tenants in their rights under the law.
