Nawsin Ahmed
Transportation Engineer
Nawsin, as a Transportation Engineer, focuses on traffic engineering, transportation planning, and safety improvement. She has experience in intelligent transportation systems, crash data analysis, and the development of a vehicle–infrastructure–integrated digital twin prototype combining real-time sensing, data visualization, and simulation modeling. Proficient in VISSIM, Vistro, AutoCAD, Python, and other analysis and design tools, she brings a strong technical foundation to her work. Her professional background also includes developing and analyzing transportation safety strategies, preparing traffic simulation models, and designing infrastructure prototypes for research and educational applications.
Originally from Bangladesh, Nawsin earned her master’s degree in Transportation Infrastructure Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech, where she served as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant. Her graduate work explored the use of connected vehicle strategies, digital twin technology, and sensor-based condition assessment to improve roadway safety and infrastructure performance. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and cooking, and she values opportunities to bring cultural connection and fresh perspectives to her professional and community involvement.
