Naomi Nelson

Project Transportation Planner

Naomi Nelson, based in our Hampton Roads office, has over five years of experience analyzing geospatial issues and supporting traffic operations and transportation planning projects. She works across a wide range of efforts, including safety analyses and safety action plans, parking and mobility studies, traffic impact analyses, bikeshare program implementation, transit route scheduling, innovative data collection, air quality modeling, and community engagement. Naomi has supported public, private, non-profit and institutional clients throughout Massachusetts, New York, Texas, and Virginia. She is an active member of the COMTO Hampton Roads Chapter, where she serves as Communications Chair and enjoys mentoring college students as they begin their careers. She is also an ERT (Elizabeth River Trail) Trail Ambassador and a member of APA (American Planning Association). At Gorove Slade, Naomi works in their southern Virginia offices, with a primary focus on traffic impact studies.

Outside of work, Naomi enjoys traveling and is excited to incorporate biking and The Tide Light Rail into her commute to the downtown Norfolk office. Any given weekend, she can be found riling up her two nephews (Jaxon & Noah) or reading on the beach. She has a strong interest in human-centered design and is passionate about creating safer, more efficient built environments that serve all members of the community. Naomi brings this perspective into her work and contributes to company culture through her enthusiasm for sustainable transportation, thoughtful collaboration, and support of emerging professionals in the field.
